Carrying Less, Seeing More

A gear confession: the best load we tested this season was the one that felt like an apology for being heavy.

Carrying Less, Seeing More

Every gear review should begin with the same confession: most of what we carry is fear in another form. This season we tested a stripped-down kit — no camp chair, no second pair of boots, no kitchen that could feed a small army.

The result was not deprivation. It was room. Room in the pack, room in the day, room to stop and actually look at the granite we were standing on. Light is a feature, not a compromise.
